Update 09-26-09: Let Me See Your Face (Internship)

During my house of prayer internship, our assignments included meditating on specific passages from God’s Word. I thought I would share some of my gleanings from one of these, to give you a look into the process and the benefit of meditation on the Word.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret places of the cliff,
Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely.”
(Song of Songs 2:14)

This passage from Song of Songs reminds me of the first time I realized the depth of God’s love for us and His desire for intimate relationship with each of us.

Regardless of the kind of day we’re having or how we feel, He wants to spend time with us. He wants us to freely voice our feelings to Him and desires to minister to us wherever we are in every moment.

The Lord poured such love into my heart as I realized how much He longs to hear my voice and to spend time just being with me. I cannot help but cherish this verse as a continual reminder of God’s desire for companionship with us.

Even when we fall short, Father God longs for us to run to Him, not away. He can handle it if we are angry with Him; He wants us to come to Him because despite how we feel at any given moment, He loves us.

Jesus knows us through and through, and still He desires close friendship with us. Through the Cross, His love for us was revealed beyond our capacity to even comprehend it. “It is finished:” Christ took upon Himself every sin and hindrance that would prevent unbroken fellowship with Him. He yearns to see our face, He longs to hear our voice!
