How do we live from the right perspective as believers in this world?
First, we must be reading, studying and applying God’s Word. This is a daily endeavor.
We must think on the things that please Him. We must aim to turn our focus away from that which is worthless, instead focusing on that which matters for eternity.
We want to live our lives from God’s perspective, which is the only right perspective.
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV)
Again, this comes only through spending time in God’s Word. It is as we grow in knowing Jesus and the Word, then following in obedience as He leads us.
It is the right perspective, of living from the truth of our position as believers in Christ, seated in heavenly places with Him (Ephesians 2:6), where nothing phases us and nothing moves us except His truth, His ways, and His Spirit.
This is the place of being unmoved by whatever is happening around us or even trying to affect us. This is the place of not allowing even our own emotions to lead us on, being led instead by God’s truth by the help of His Spirit, in our actions and our responses. The entirety of His Word is truth (Psalm 119:160; John 17:17).
This is the place of abiding in Christ and His Word in us, that though we live in this world we do not live as if we are of it (John 15:1-5, 19; Romans 12:2).
This is the place of being fully committed to obey God and keep His commandments, forsaking all else to follow Jesus no matter what.
