God has set a table of extraordinary “delicacies” before us. As we read His Word, we read the stories of those who came before us and most of all, find out who God is by doing so. We find His life-giving truth and promises in the pages of the Scriptures.
In times of joy as well as pain, we can continually feed on His Word. We can relish in the knowledge of who He is and His love. As Psalm 37:3 says, in these times we should:
“Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.” (NKJV)
Come to Him and take His Word in your hands. As you read, you will continually take in the truths of His awesome character, His amazing love, His great mercy.
Say no to every lesser invitation. Refuse the feasts offered by the world’s goods and ideals which cannot satisfy. Taste instead of the goodness God has prepared for us. Delight in Him and in His Word.
“Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;
Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart.
Make me walk in the path of Your commandments,
For I delight in it.
Incline my heart to Your testimonies,
And not to covetousness.
Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
And revive me in Your way.” (Psalm 119:34-37 NKJV)
Ask God to lead you as you read and study His Word, illuminating His truth as you partake of the feast found in the Bible. God is faithful, so feed on His faithfulness in the words of these pages!
