If you’re facing a time of difficulty, know that God sees you. He sees the trials you face, the hardships that have come your way. He sees the overwhelming pain. Know this: He cares for you immensely
Keep your eyes upon Him. He is able to comfort us far better than any human being ever could. He delights when we seek Him even in our weakness and difficulty:
“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:15-16 (NKJV)
Pour out your heart to the Lord. He can handle whatever you share with Him—no matter how hard, no matter how painful. Don’t be afraid to be honest with Him, He already knows after all. Know that He wants to hold you close. Know that His heart is after redemption and restoration, to make wrong things right.
He wants to help you, giving both comfort and wisdom to you. He longs to speak to you from His Word. It is here where you will find His words of Spirit and life (John 6:63).
“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:4 (NKJV)
He knows every decision you face. You, the one who feels lonely day after day. You, the one who feels misunderstood. Receive this truth: He is ever mindful of you (Psalm 8:4).
God does not delight in this struggle or pain. He does not want you to suffer, yet we do face such things in this life. Remember that He uses all things for the good of those who love Him. He uses all things to bring forth His glory, even in the most impossible circumstances.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Romans 8:28-29 (NKJV)
Though I know it’s not easy—having faced immense disappointment and pain myself—seek to remind yourself of God’s promises. In the midst of this pain, release and keep releasing every burden to Him. Speak to your soul as David did and know the Lord is faithful.
As David spoke to his soul, we can speak to our souls:
Psalms 42:5 (NKJV)
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.”
Take time to rest in Jesus’ presence each day. Ask Him to minister to you by His Holy Spirit, the Comforter Himself. As you draw near to Him, He promises to draw near to you (James 4:6-8).
Rest in the Lord. He cares for you. Seek His Holy Spirit’s comfort in this hardship. Fret not and recall His Word:
“Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord , and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord , And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord , Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord , and wait patiently for Him…”
Psalms 37:1-7 (NKJV)
