Many of us are troubled, unsettled and even anxious right now. I too have felt the same at times. Amid rumors of wars, plagues and injustice, our world is not always an enjoyable place to be. Panic and unknowns abounding, our world’s sin-laden, fallen status is more than obvious.
Don’t forget the words of Jesus which still ring true even now:
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.” (John 14:1-3 ESV)
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27 ESV)
Remember Christ’s words. Remember this world is not your destination and final home. Instead, the Lord and His dwelling place are where our forever will be spent. No matter what you are facing, this is not your final destination. No matter the troubles that plague our world and the suffering that afflicts our lives, we who believe are safe because we belong to God and our eternity is secure in Him.
Even when we personally experience the effects of such trying troubles, suffering and hardship are not our end. For the believer, our eternity is with God, and that end is really just the beginning of a paradisal life with Him for eternity.
We can fight fear with the words He spoke also to His disciples:
“…if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:3), so I can stop letting my heart be troubled, agitated, unsettled or afraid (John 14:27). Take heart, sons and daughters of God.
