Renewing Your Mind in God’s Word

The journey of renewing our minds is a process. It doesn’t occur in a moment or two. It takes consistent, daily moments with Jesus over time. Nonetheless, it is one of the most beautiful parts of our journey with Him.

How can we do our part in this? By spending time with Christ in worship, prayer, and meditating on His Word.

Renewing our minds with God’s Word helps us grow in faith, hope, love and all the fruit of His Spirit. As we spend time studying and meditating on His Word, we will experience transformation through His truth and by His Spirit.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)

Father God loves to set us free from lies we believe and wrong mindsets we struggle with. He wants to transform our perspective concerning Him, ourselves and others. He even wants to help us not be led by our emotions when they are about to lead us astray.

Do you need peace in your life, freedom from fear and anxiety, an attitude adjustment, or other things?

So You Want to Encounter Jesus?

As we desire to experience heavenly things, remember that the door is Jesus. Knowing Him is eternal life & as we pursue wholehearted intimate companionship with Him, we will experience more & more the things of that heavenly eternal life. But He wants our hearts in friendship first, that we seek Him & not just the things of Him.

The excellent beauty of it all is that this relationship (just like those He mirrored after it on the earth) always involve experience with the other person. It’s not so mysterious, thank You, Father!

As we go after Him, He will come right back after us! He will add all those other treasures of Heaven & Himself into our lives as He sees best in His perfect timing. Before we even understand how it happened, we will find ourselves walking under that “open heaven” & in tangible awareness of God’s presence as Himself so real & no longer at all seeming so “ethereal” or distant to us. It is such a glorious thing & this only increases as we deepen in closeness to the Lord day by day & glory to glory! Hallelujah! Thank You, Jesus!

Scripture Verses:
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3

“Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned. If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:4-7 AMP

“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, ‘Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.'” Revelation 4:1

“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:9-10

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMP

(Verses via NKJV unless noted.)

Are there times when you find yourself going after an experience or powerful ministry over pursuing Jesus in intimate friendship? How do you help bring your heart and mind back into focus on what it’s truly all about?

Our Role as Worship Leaders

What’s our role as the worship leader?

Matt Craig writes:

“[The worship leader’s] job is to bring order (when needed) and provide the best possible opportunity and environment for us to worship.”

In a previous paragraph, he reminds us that we as worship leaders:

  • Cannot lift the hearts of those taking part in the worship to God
  • Cannot refresh their souls
  • Cannot satisfy their thirst for God

Only each individual can do that with the Holy Spirit’s enabling.

As worship leaders, we must focus on what God calls us to do, but nothing more. No sense in carrying burdens we weren’t intended to carry. There is freedom in knowing and living that, praise God!
