Whether you are in a season of the fireworks of God’s love or a time when you seem unable to feel His presence, here are some keys to experiencing His presence both tangibly and supernaturally!
Key #1: Heart Posture
Our ability to engage with God in relationship is most influenced by the posture of our hearts before Him. Are we willing to set aside time to tend the garden of our life with God?
Often we are preoccupied with action and progress as we gauge our growth with God, but this is not the most important. Today in some morning reflection & reading, I was impacted by Blackaby’s Experiencing God Day by Day for today, titled “Ritual or Relationship?” — especially as this affects so many of our churches & their members today, & has become (very recently) a topic of conversation & prayer in my own life.
God designed worship for us to see Him in His glory and to respond appropriately; for many it has degenerated into “religion,” one more meeting to attend out of habit. …God gave us prayer so we could have conversation with Him, but we often distort this by “saying prayers” and hurrying off without ever listening to what is on our Father’s heart. God instituted His commandments as a protection for those He loves, but the commandments can become a pathway to legalism rather than an avenue for a relationship with our Father in which He protects us from harm.
I hope this speaks to you today as much as it spoke to me.
If we do nothing else, let us do this: Keep our focus on our relationship with God, not religion or ritual.
Let us also challenge ourselves to pray continually against a spirit of religion & ritual in our churches & in the entire Body of Christ! Let’s see the change happen & see believers who are on fire for God & seeking Him & His Kingdom, first & foremost!
