In this narrative, we find Zacharias and Elizabeth faithfully following the Lord and His ways. An area of lack remained in their lives despite this. Almost surprisingly, we discover that this lack was God-ordained! God had chosen this couple to bring forth John the Baptist–forerunner of Jesus–at just the right moment of time. Continue reading
The journey of renewing our minds is a process. It doesn’t occur in a moment or two. It takes consistent, daily moments with Jesus over time. Nonetheless, it is one of the most beautiful parts of our journey with Him.
How can we do our part in this? By spending time with Christ in worship, prayer, and meditating on His Word.
Renewing our minds with God’s Word helps us grow in faith, hope, love and all the fruit of His Spirit. As we spend time studying and meditating on His Word, we will experience transformation through His truth and by His Spirit.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
– Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)
Father God loves to set us free from lies we believe and wrong mindsets we struggle with. He wants to transform our perspective concerning Him, ourselves and others. He even wants to help us not be led by our emotions when they are about to lead us astray.
Do you need peace in your life, freedom from fear and anxiety, an attitude adjustment, or other things?
The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save (Zephaniah 3:17). He sees your shortcomings, yet He always sees your heart. He says,
“I am your Strength even in weakness. I am your Hope in the storm. I am your Rear Guard and your Stronghold. Run to Me. Come to Me. Do not be afraid.
There is no shame anymore. There is no need for fear. I have perfected you in My love. It is done in Heaven, and in time you will walk it out more and more. You have been set free to call Me ‘Abba, Father.’ I am your Creator, your Father, your God.
You are My beloved always. Nothing can change that–no trial, no failure, no pain. Keep your ‘yes’ to Me and do not give up.
Keep coming to Me. When you fall, get back up again. Run to Me and not away. I await you each time with open arms, not with condemnation but with the desire to release forgiveness and set you free.
I am looking at your heart, My love. Come and rest in My love.“
Scriptures for Reflection
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.“ 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
I do not have everything perfect in my life. I have struggles and sin just like everyone else. Sometimes I get frustrated and lose my patience with those I love, and I react in ways that are not pleasing to God.
Just yesterday I walked through this type of situation. Afterward I became so upset with myself because of how I responded. I put myself in a sort of time-out from God, not even sure He would want to talk to me. Of course I know this is not true, but it was how I felt because of my failure. I was letting the fact that I fell short block out my ability to receive the truth of God’s love for me.
It was hard to hear His voice while dwelling on how I felt like a failure. Though I am growing in leaps and bounds in other areas of my life in God, in this area I sometimes mess up so badly and it causes me pain.
Deep down I know without a doubt that God’s love never changes toward me, and today He spoke to me what I shared above, that He already knew the challenge I was going to face during this season of my life, and He loves me the same. He hears my heart and He knows that I want to please Him even though I failed the day before.
God speaks the same to you too. He sees your heart and He knew every decision you would ever make. He already knew you would be where you are today and He loves you. He has chosen you and He calls you His own beautiful and anointed son or daughter.

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance,
and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written
before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.“
(Psalm 139:16 AMP)
If there is one major lesson I have learned in life, it is that God is the only One who can truly satisfy the desires, needs & longings we have.
Before truly encountering the Lord in my life, I tried to find love & fulfillment in people and in my gifts, but it proved only to pile depression & anxiety on top of the lack of love I felt. Like many of you, I discovered that all other endeavors, addictions & wants lead only to empty fillings & even pain.
Though they may seem to meet our needs for a time, eventually other people and things show themselves as unable to fully meet those deep needs inside our souls.
They are broken cisterns, unable to hold any substance that could ever fulfill us (Jeremiah 2:13). But know that the Lord Himself can truly satisfy & He wants to fill us, no matter how much we’ve failed in the past or present.
Father God wants to bring joy, delight & fulfillment into our lives. He wants to replace our striving to be satisfied elsewhere with a holy addiction to Himself & His presence. He will fulfill you like no one & nothing else can.
But don’t just take my words & read them, go spend some time alone with Him & taste for yourself the pleasures of the love of Jesus. This is one intoxication you will never regret and you can always fearlessly ask for more.
Isaiah 58:11 NASB: “…the LORD will continually guide you, & satisfy your desire in scorched places, & give strength to your bones; & you will be like a watered garden, & like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.”
