All of Heaven Inside You

I am amazed by our God. I feel so loved that He pours out His love and gives so much of Himself. He is so beautiful and yet even more so. He holds onto us tighter than we often realize, and He will NEVER let go, even when we miss the mark or make mistakes. He is so faithful!

He will also never let you down. If it ever seems that way, it is not true, though I myself have experienced that place of feeling painfully distant from the Lord. Thankfully, things aren’t always as they appear to our natural senses.

Feelings are not always in agreement with the truth, and at times I’ve found that persevering is most difficult when my emotions are in a bad way. Our emotions do not always agree with His truth, and our timing is not always in alignment with His. But if you set yourself to keep your gaze on Him, and in quiet trust you wait on Him, He will never disappoint you. He is your Rock and your Salvation.

He is a good Father and Jesus is a perfect Husband. The Holy Spirit is a perfect Comforter. He gives us good gifts! After all, He gave Jesus! What would He do but to want to BE with you!

Often we just do not rest from our striving and we allow fears and distractions to take our focus captive, pulling it away from God, where our focus should be even in difficulties.

Refuse to listen to the lies of the enemy of your soul. That enemy wants only to cut off your abiding connection with the Lord, do not entertain his lies in your mind or his feelings that lie to your soul.

Allow nothing to come in between you and the Lord! He has deposited ALL of the treasures of Heaven inside you! He wants to show you great and mighty things of which you know not, yet they are already within you by His Spirit inside you, waiting for you to recognize and release them by His power and strength! How can we release something we don’t recognize? May He open up our eyes to all He has placed inside us.

Can you relate to this? Do you realize that with God’s Holy Spirit in you, you have all of Heaven within reach? Have you ever had fears or other challenges that seemed to keep you from seeing the truth of God dwelling inside you? Have emotions ever caused you to feel as if God was not going to come through in your life or situation? Share your experiences below.

Are You in What Seems Like a Desert Wilderness?

Deserts “appear to be lifeless, but surprisingly none are.”
(BBC’s Planet Earth)

Hungry, Thirsty, Weary, Frustrated?

For the most part, desert seasons in our walk with God can seem void of life, but are far from it. God uses these times to grow us, and where there is growth, there is life! Dry times bring forth even more life than if we never went through these times with God.

Change, Change, Change!

Because of the nature of wind and sand, deserts are constantly changing shape. Times when we experience vast amounts of change can also feel like wilderness seasons in our lives.

Remember This!

In the desert, one thing is constant and unchanging — the sun, even when it has set for the evening or when the sandy winds block it from view. Likewise, remember that no matter what is going on in your life, Jesus is always there, even if it feels like He is distant or even absent. Even when the winds of the desert blind us, God is still there.

Ultimate Source of Life

Keep yourself latched onto the Source of life – God Himself. He is your Living Water and Bread of Life, He will sustain you even when you think you can make it no further. Keep pressing on and drawing near to Him no matter what.

Hold onto God’s promises despite how you feel and the happenings around you: God will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8), and He uses all things for the good of those who love Him in order to make them more like Jesus (Romans 8:28-29). God is faithful and unchanging.  His love is unending and unconditional. He is always with you, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

Our Heavenly Father: The Best in Existence

Any true shepherd would go after even one of his sheep that was lost. And wouldn’t any father or mother search for their lost child in the marketplace until they were found?

And so we can know that God is a Dad unlike any other: He’s the best and most perfect parent in existence! God would search harder and longer and farther for even just one of His children than any human being could or would. He would go to more lengths than any. In fact, He did!

God went so far to rescue the very ones He created that He sacrificed His Son to save us. He so loved the world that He sent Jesus to take away our sin and give us eternal life (John 3:16-17). He so loved! He made you to love you. But He doesn’t force you to love Him back. He loves you even though there was nothing you could do to save yourself or be able to love Him back, so He did it for you: He sacrificed His Son out of His love for you.

“All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins. God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life’s blood, so that by faith in him we could come to God…” (Romans 3:23-25)

He loves you so much that He wants you to have eternal life and a relationship with Him. He wants to pour out all His infinite love on you. But because we all fall short of perfection–every single one of us has sinned (committed wrong) against God, others and even ourselves–and we are separated from God by our sin. But  because of Jesus, you will be saved if you:

  1. Ask God to forgive all of your sins and genuinely repent (turn away) from sin and turn to God.
  2. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and:
  3. Believe in your heart that you’ve been set free from sin because Jesus died on the cross to take away our sins, and then He was raised again from death to life by God.

Then you are saved and have become one of God’s children! Share it with someone–you’ve made the best decision of your life! Connect with other believers and a local church to help you grow as a believer and child of God. And remember that God will never forsake or leave His children, not even when we pass away from this life, but we will have eternal life with Him forever and have relationship with Him now! At that time of salvation we are also given God’s Holy Spirit as our Helper, who guides us who believe in living rightly for God according to His Word, His will and His ways as we walk by faith in God. By His Spirit, He also teaches us His truth, helps us to love others as He loves, and pours out His own love into our hearts.

We have an awesome and compassionate heavenly Dad who loves us! Our God who longs for those who don’t know Him to turn from evil and be brought into a relationship with Him so that He can love them and love them and love them! And so He can give them TRUE LIFE – the truest of life that comes only from Him!

With love God’s arms are outstretched to you. A smile on His face and compassion flowing from His heart, He awaits the joyful moment in which you will be in His embrace!

Come to Him, all you who long for love that will never leave you lonely. Come to Him, all you who long to truly belong. Come to Him, all you who are weary, longing to be made whole.

God loves you with an everlasting love. You are His, and He paid the highest price of love for you. He knows your struggles, troubles and fears, and He longs to take your burdens upon Himself. God is the one who will truly satisfy your emptiness. He longs to give you His unfailing love, true peace and unending joy.

God’s Fortress of Strength

Do you need freedom from the worries and stresses of this life? Do you need strength? It is in God alone that we find true strength and freedom from the burdens we needlessly carry. Through God we have strength, protection and freedom.

…the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.
(Nehemiah 8:10)

  • “Strength” in this verse means “a fortified place, fortress, stronghold”
  • The dictionary definition of “fortress” reveals more deeply what it means to have God as our strength and fortress:
    • “a heavily protected and impenetrable building”
    • “a person or thing not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance”

Wow! With God as our strength, we can truly embrace living as one who is “heavily protected” and “impenetrable”“a person…not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance” and instead be a person living by the Holy Spirit, who lives in us and guides us as followers of Christ.

The Lord is my Light and my Salvation–whom shall I fear or dread?
The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?

(Psalm 27:1)

In Christ alone we are strong. During these end times, let us trust in our mighty God who will guard and protect us even when we experience fear or are burdened by life’s trials and challenges.

God’s Rest in the Here and Now

The other day I asked God for an acronym for “rest” (that is, trust and rest in Him), and this is what I felt He spoke to me:

REST = Reserve Established by the Spirit of Truth

I shared this with a friend, and he shared with me an acronym using the word “busy” – which actually describes the counterfeit of true rest in God:

BUSY = Being Under Satan’s Yoke

If we are resting in God, we’ll have a reserve of energy in every way at all times! His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will do just as Jesus said – Guide us into all truth and reveals to us the things and words of God (John 16:13), comfort us, counsel us, help us. He will point our eyes to Christ in all things (John 15:26).

God fills every part of us with His Spirit: “they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:4)– our “souls” mean “our minds, will and emotions,” every part of us as well as the Spirit of God living inside of us! He will remind us of who we are as believers–children of the Living God saved by grace. He will teach us continually about who God is and who we are in Christ!

We’ve no reason to worry, fret, doubt or have any concern! God carries all our burdens if we let Him and renew our minds with His truth. He–the Uncreated One who created all things–holds everything together, and takes care of it all! Let us have holy UNconcern! (I heard this at a conference this weekend.)

Some other “R-words” come to mind as well:

  • Righteousness
  • Rest/Restoration
  • Reliance (dependence on God)
  • Rooted (in Christ)
  • Right Response (because rest and trust in God are just that!)
  • Reality (of living in complete trust with God)
  • Renewal/Renewed, Refreshing/Refreshed, Revival/Revived
  • Relaxed (we can be because God has everything under control!)
  • Redemption/Redeemed
  • River (as in “Rivers of Living Water”) – John 7:38

“He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.”
(John 7:38 Amplified)

“[For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints…”
(Ephesians 1:17-18 Amplified)
