In Everything, Be Still

Choosing to be still is often our wisest response in difficult situations.

Perhaps a loved one is in dire need and you can only do so much, be still and know that He is God. Pray and trust Him to lead you and care for them.

Maybe you are facing rejection or misunderstanding. Trust in His love to satisfy your aching heart. Rest in His presence and let His love bring healing.

Often we face the pressures of others as well. Most of all we need God’s guidance and strength. Being still and seeking His leadership help us know how to respond. We want to do our part, but sometimes the expectations of others do not agree with what God is leading us to do.

Most of us have learned that we cannot make things happen, so striving and stressing over things is fruitless. We only waste our already limited human energy, or give our emotions and flesh allowances to overwhelm us.

In all these things and more, the life-giving words of Jesus remind us to do things differently. Time and again He beckons us to wait, trust and be still. Below are several verses to take to heart:

“The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.” Exodus 14:14

“…in returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength…Isaiah 30:15 (ESV)

“Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.Psalm 37:3-4

“Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him; Do not fret (whine, agonize) because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.Psalm 37:7

“Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.James 1:2-4

“Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

If He shall be exalted among the nations, how much more in the things of our lives? Rest and be still. Turn it all into His hands. Obey and follow as He leads, otherwise be still in the waiting and trust His ability to take care of it all.

Truly it is easier said than done; nonetheless, the Holy Spirit will strengthen, comfort and counsel us if we ask Him and take time to be still in His presence. He will help us be patient, hopeful and steadfast in our trials, heartaches and challenges.

The Lord beckons us to trust and remember that He is fully good. He longs for us to let go and let Him work as we wait on Him in quiet confidence. We can trust in His promises that our strength will be renewed as we wait on Him (Isaiah 40:31) and that His love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).

Rest, trust and cast every care upon Him who cares for you deeply. Let Him refresh and revive your needy heart.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (AMP)

Let Him be God, and take your mind off the burdens and needs. Let Him saturate you in His love and the truth that He is a good Father working on behalf of His beloved. He is faithful!

In Your Deepest Need

There is One who will never forget you, One who always sees your heart. He sees your desperation for all to be made right. He sees you when no one else seems to care for you as deeply. He sees your deepest needs and the neglect you feel day after day.

He sees everything and He never leaves. He knows you better than anyone. He fulfills your needs better than any ever could. He prays for you more than any do. He loves you better than any ever will. He sees your pain and the cry of your heart to be held, ministered to, healed and comforted. Continue reading

Comfort in the Trials

If you are experiencing difficulties or challenges, know God sees you. Know His heart is for you. He answers when you cry out to Him. Don’t be afraid to call upon Him in your time of need.

The Lord is able to lead us by His Spirit far better than any human being. He is patient with us. He loves when we look to Him. He delights when we seek His way for our lives and in all situations.

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
(Hebrews 4:15‭-‬16 NKJV)

Pour out your heart to Him. He can handle it. He wants to hold you close, releasing comfort and wisdom to you. He longs to speak to you from His Word. It is here where you will find His words of Spirit and life (John 6:63).

Loved When All You Can Do Is Be

Some days are harder than others. We face challenges. We fight issues that change the course of the day. Perhaps a loved one is sick or we ourselves deal with chronic pain, and healing has not yet come.

Or maybe we watch others never seeming to experience hardship, as we face them daily, perhaps even for years.

Know this: Through it all, Father God sees you. He loves you. You don’t have to measure up to any standard but His. He’s not looking at the struggles; He’s looking st your heart.

Even when all you can do is simply be, you are loved by God.

It doesn’t look the same for someone else as it might for you. He knows the trials, the pain, the weaknesses before you. He knows you are overwhelmed. He doesn’t expect you to be a super hero. He invites you to trust His hand and rest in His arms.

Maybe no one else will hear or see, but God sees you. You, seemingly little not-as-successful-as-another you, you matter to Him. He hears every prayer, He sees every tear. He is a Father, and He loves you better than anyone else ever could.

Even if life is such a challenge that all you can do is simply be with Him, He’s okay with that. He knows you inside and out, through the good and the difficult. He wants your heart more than your performance.

Many others are out busily doing for every other purpose under the sun, but even in the difficulties before you, you are still pressing into Him. By the very nature of your call for help, you are drawing near to Him!

Just being with Him. This counts far more than you know, beloved. It counts with Him! Your mind and heart turned to Him is more precious than all the world in His eyes. You are His precious and dearly beloved son or daughter.

He cares for you better than any earthly parent, pastor, mentor or friend could manage to muster up. He pours His love upon you. Our Abba sees you, His beloved child.

Even when all you can do is simply be with Him, He loves you and He cherishes every moment. You are His beloved one, in whom He delights.

Roses Have Thorns: Allowing God to Refine Us

Sometimes our journey of friendship with God isn’t all roses. Roses are beautiful and lovely in appearance and fragrance. They are given to show love, that we are held dear to the heart of the Giver.

But roses also have thorns. When we pick up a rose, we are careful to avoid grabbing the stem where a thorn resides, so we are not stabbed by it. At the same time, we know the thorn is there as we acknowledge it by our making room for it.

When we pursue the Lord, we cannot ignore the hard things. We know they are there. God knows they are. He sees our hearts and all we go through, and He wants to touch our lives even in these areas. But if we pretend these things don’t exist, it can hinder Him from fashioning us in those areas.

Impurities must be brought to surface for the revealing of the fine silver that is us.

It is in the refining that the beauty is able to come forth. Ashes before beauty. The coal before the diamond. But if the pressure upon that coal is hindered, the diamond will not fully come forth.

It is painful at times, but He is worth it, and His glory to be revealed in us is worth it.

Let Him bring the fullness of His character forth in your life. He makes all things beautiful in His time. You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
