Update 10-12-18: New Space, Sunday Gatherings and The Prayer Room!

I’m so excited about what is happening at The Father’s House of Prayer, one of the ministries where I serve as a prayer missionary and worship leader.

A New Meeting Space!

After five months of meeting in homes and then in a store for seven months, God has opened the door for us to have our own space again.

Our new space is a second floor space downtown. This is where we felt God wanted us for a long time, but there were some roadblocks along the way which hindered us. We are so grateful the Lord has now made a way for us downtown to serve and bless our community through prayer, worship and more!

Something beautiful awaited us at our new location: The window above the door is etched with a lyric written by Mozart, which is based on Psalm 46:1:

“God is our refuge, our refuge and strength…”

This quote was there before we came; we aren’t sure when or who scribed it there. Nonetheless, it is apparent God had already marked this space to be used for His purposes. God told FHOP–not at all by coincidence–we would be His refuge from the storm for those who come, and here is this very prophetic word written over our new space!

The new space is named “The Prayer Room” and we began meeting there in September.

Sunday Gatherings

Starting 10/14, our weekly gatherings will meet on Sundays at 2:00PM. This gathering will serve as a time for our FHOP family to grow in community and discipleship, to pray for one another and to be equipped as the praying people we are called to be.

We will still meet on Thursdays at 7:00PM as well with one difference: This gathering will become a time of prayer and worship for our community and any who desire to come.

The Prayer Room

Our new space will specifically be designed as a place for believers in our community to unite in worship and prayer. In coming months, we will set a regular schedule for The Prayer Room.

The purpose of The Prayer Room is three-fold:

  • To provide a place set apart to exalt Jesus in worship.
  • To join believers in God’s love and purpose–regardless of church or denomination–unto the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer for the unity of believers with God and each other (John 17:20-26).
  • To partner actively with God in prayer for His will to be done in our lives and our communities.

Partner With Us

FHOP will soon have giving financially available through the website and mobile devices. We ask for your prayers that God would lead people to partner with us financially so we can fulfill our God-given assignments without hindrance, especially in providing this new giving opportunity.

Join in praying with us for God to bring all those He wants to join in what He is doing in The Prayer Room. Please continue to pray for the work of God’s Kingdom through us in the midst of these exciting happenings.

Update 07-25-16: Praise in the Park

Welcome! This is the first official update of my intercessory missionary endeavors and our church/house of prayer! Back in 2009, I shared some throughout my internship.

Praise in the Park

This weekend Father’s House of Prayer had our first summer worship gathering at a downtown park. Another worship team joined, compromised of members from a few other churches. It was a joy to join together.

This marks our third year of Praise in the Park. I’ll never forget the time before our first gathering. At the time, my husband and I lived in a tiny apartment overlooking the place where we’d soon gather to worship Jesus.

Praying it forward

In November 2013, the Lord often led me into prayer. I felt like a watchman on the wall when I peered out our window at the Park.

At God’s leading I would pray His heart for days. I would drive to and from work in a place of travail; days off were usually spent in prayer.

God wanted His manifest presence to come to the Park and touch our town.

These times were some of the sweetest I’ve had with the Lord.

On a day of corporate prayer the following Spring, God told our leadership to bring worship out of the four walls and into the Park. By the day’s end, someone was led to donate the very amount needed for a sound system. This was a need we had not yet made known.

I then realized this was why the Lord often led me into intercession the previous fall.

After this weekend’s Praise in the Park, I needed to hear from the Lord. The multitasking required was polluting my perspective. I reminded myself that perfect details and big crowds are not as important as faithfulness and obedience.

Our part, His part

God gave told is to bring the sound of worship to the Park. It was His part to do as He promised.  It’s a lesson for us all:

We must simply do our part and trust God to do His.

That evening as I prayed, God revealed His perspective to me by showing me what He was doing as we worshiped.

I saw a picture of myself looking out from the platform while leading worship. Several mourning doves were hovering in the air above all of us there. The Lord’s loving presence was coming down. The doves were almost glowing, perhaps by God’s glory.

Mourning doves remind me of simple, pure devotion to Jesus.

God sees our faithful devotion to Him, from the mundane to the miraculous. If He is in it, it matters to Him. He sees you.

The doves also symbolized the Father’s peace and love being given as gifts to us, filling the atmosphere with His presence. This is exactly what He has promised to do during Praise in the Park: He spoke three years ago that as we worshiped outside the four walls, He would release His peace and clear people’s confusion.

Testimonies

  • Last summer a vacationer pulled up searching for a place to buy a cane. Our pastor asked if he wanted God to heal him. The man was healed! He came to the platform, testified that his back was healed, and jumped off in excitement! As our pastor exclaimed, “Now that’s a healed back!” The man no longer needed a cane!
  • At every gathering folks have shared experiencing God’s peace.
  • An unexpected vendor arrived during setup. He and his wife were believers and had an enthusiastic response to worship at the Park.
  • A vacationing couple were sharing pictures on social media. Their church is familiar with the Harp and Bowl model of prayer and worship with music, and wanted their church to have a similar gathering outdoors where they live.

Looking forward to next month!

Update 11-13-15: Praying for People to Return to the Lord (Joel 2:12-14)

I thought you’d like to see what I’ve been up to—in video!

We recently joined together to worship Jesus and pray for our nation at The Fig Tree, a prayer room where I serve.

I sang in prayer from the Word of God from Joel 2:12-14 (NKJV):

“Now, therefore,” says the Lord,
“Turn to Me with all your heart,
With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.”
So rend your heart, and not your garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm.
Who knows if He will turn and relent,
And leave a blessing behind Him—
A grain offering and a drink offering
For the Lord your God?

Join us in praying for all to return their hearts and lives to the Lord. He so longs for each one!

Update 09-26-09: Let Me See Your Face (Internship)

During my house of prayer internship, our assignments included meditating on specific passages from God’s Word. I thought I would share some of my gleanings from one of these, to give you a look into the process and the benefit of meditation on the Word.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret places of the cliff,
Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice;
For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely.”
(Song of Songs 2:14)

This passage from Song of Songs reminds me of the first time I realized the depth of God’s love for us and His desire for intimate relationship with each of us.

Regardless of the kind of day we’re having or how we feel, He wants to spend time with us. He wants us to freely voice our feelings to Him and desires to minister to us wherever we are in every moment.

Update 09-19-09: Enjoyed by God and True Success (Internship)

For my internship, one book I have been reading is Seven Longings of the Human Heart by Mike Bickle. God has been impacting my heart greatly in this, especially concerning the longing to be enjoyed by Him. (Scroll down this page to download a free PDF that Mike has of this book.)

Specifically while reading the chapter on this longing, God continually encountered me with the truths being shared, from the first sentence onward! The truth that He enjoys me even when I am not doing perfectly is big!

“Our success is measured solely by the fact that Jesus values and desires us.”– Mike Bickle
