Update 10-12-18: New Space, Sunday Gatherings and The Prayer Room!

I’m so excited about what is happening at The Father’s House of Prayer, one of the ministries where I serve as a prayer missionary and worship leader.

A New Meeting Space!

After five months of meeting in homes and then in a store for seven months, God has opened the door for us to have our own space again.

Our new space is a second floor space downtown. This is where we felt God wanted us for a long time, but there were some roadblocks along the way which hindered us. We are so grateful the Lord has now made a way for us downtown to serve and bless our community through prayer, worship and more!

Something beautiful awaited us at our new location: The window above the door is etched with a lyric written by Mozart, which is based on Psalm 46:1:

“God is our refuge, our refuge and strength…”

This quote was there before we came; we aren’t sure when or who scribed it there. Nonetheless, it is apparent God had already marked this space to be used for His purposes. God told FHOP–not at all by coincidence–we would be His refuge from the storm for those who come, and here is this very prophetic word written over our new space!

The new space is named “The Prayer Room” and we began meeting there in September.

Sunday Gatherings

Starting 10/14, our weekly gatherings will meet on Sundays at 2:00PM. As a house of prayer rather than a traditional church, we want to honor our local churches by choosing a time that does not conflict with morning church services to foster unity in the Body of Christ.

For the past year we met on Thursdays instead; however, being a weekday evening, this was difficult for most. We also have many–including myself and my husband–who consider FHOP our spiritual family and have schedules that do not allow us time to attend other services each week.

This gathering will serve as a time for our FHOP family to grow in community and discipleship, to pray for one another and to be equipped as the Body of Christ.

We will still meet on Thursdays at 7:00PM as well with one difference: This gathering will become a time of prayer and worship for our community and any who desire to come.

The Prayer Room

Our new space will specifically be designed as a place for believers in our community to unite in worship and prayer. In coming months, we will set a regular schedule for The Prayer Room.

The purpose of The Prayer Room is three-fold:

  • To provide a place set apart to exalt Jesus in worship.
  • To join believers in God’s love and purpose–regardless of church or denomination–unto the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer for the unity of believers with God and each other (John 17:20-26).
  • To partner actively with God in prayer for His will to be done in our lives and our communities.

Partner With Us

FHOP will soon have giving financially available through the website and mobile devices. We ask for your prayers that God would lead people to partner with us financially so we can fulfill our God-given assignments without hindrance, especially in providing this new giving opportunity.

Join in praying with us for God to bring all those He wants to join in what He is doing in The Prayer Room. Please continue to pray for the work of God’s Kingdom through us in the midst of these exciting happenings.

In Times of Testing, Jesus Is So Worth It

Have you ever felt as if everything was going opposite the Lord’s promises? Have you felt like throwing in the towel, wondering if you’ve missed it because nothing worthwhile seems to be happening anymore?

These are the times when our true motives and resolve are tested. What is truly in our hearts is brought to the surface and God wants to bring beauty out of the ashes.

What comes to the surface can lead to a valuable searching of our hearts. As the house of prayer where I lead worship goes through a challenging season, God has brought some motive-searching questions to mind:

  • Are we doing this to exalt God who is worthy of worship or to grow in number?
  • Will we pray and serve simply because we want His will to be done and His Son to be glorified?

The Rawness We Face in Pursuit of Prayer & Intimacy with God

When we pursue a deeply close relationship with Jesus, we often come face to face with the deepest longings within our souls. Yearnings seem to ache and cry out from the depths of us in the midst of life’s noise, needing to be fulfilled.

Even more, we stumble upon the slippery river rocks of our struggles in which we must fight against filling the voids we feel with things other than Jesus. We need to just let go, take a deep breath, and journey out of our comfort zone, diving deep into the, at first, shockingly frigid river and start swimming upstream toward God’s throne.

This can feel like an unbearably raw place to be. In the midst of worship and prayer (whether in a group, prayer room, church, or alone), the tug to pull away from feeling and facing our neediness yanks at us, trying to rope us back into more practical activities and even into mere distractions.

We may first face the deafening ache of our hearts, ever needy for God, as we attempt to draw nearer to Him. Within our souls the pain of this longing can seem like an intolerable silence, yet all at once filling us with its wearying noise. It is the deep calling to deep at the roar of His waterfalls (Psalm 42:7).

Our surrender to God’s ways will soon smell satisfyingly sweet if we will simply turn our gaze to Him and off our soul and our circumstances. Know this: Jesus is worth it all in comparison to any other pursuit. Refuse to quit when your soul demands you to pacify its needs. Keep drawing near to God, and He will draw near to you (James 4:8).

All this may seem foreign if you have not journeyed this way before, but in time I pray that, for each of us, the budding understanding of this experience will be fully formed in us, assisting us as we decide to push past the pain, the emptiness, and the yearning with the determination to grow closer to God.

We know with assurance: Only Christ can fully satisfy these yearnings.

By My Spirit: Prophetic Worship Music (Holy Spirit Inspired Spontaneous Worship)

Holy Spirit-inspired prophetic worship music from me via my YouTube channel. Recorded live. I pray the Lord uses this to bless and touch hearts.

Remember not to despise small beginnings in your life, for it is “not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit” says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).

War in the Airwaves

I’ve noticed even more tonight that there’s a war going on in the atmosphere. The enemy hates our worship of Jesus and has his own sounds going as he tries to pollute the air of homes, cities, regions and hearts.

We need to lift our voices in worship of Jesus more and more wherever we are! Our words and worship penetrate the atmosphere to bring God’s life and light all around us, His anointed sons and daughters!

After leading worship today I can especially feel his irritation at the healing that came to hearts and to the atmosphere over our region; and even though I know we don’t fight against flesh and blood, his irritation seems to be being reflected in the natural through others around us playing music that is more raucous and their singing more blatant than usual.

So tonight my hubby and I are playing the 24/7 Prayer Room web stream via IHOP-KC in our place! Don’t forget to play music glorifying our God in worship in your homes and spend time praising Him all the day and night long, lifting your voices wherever you are

With every thought let us love You, God!
