A Resurrection Story

I was broken and lost and I didn’t know it. Hopeless, lonely, unsatisfied with life. I believed there was a God, but little good that did me because I didn’t get to know Him. I didn’t know I was supposed to have a relationship with Him. I didn’t even know I could.

I was searching nonetheless, searching for fulfillment, searching for love. I longed for something of substance and worth in this life. I found myself trying to figure out who I was and find someone who truly loved me. Despite this, I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I  didn’t know what I expected to find. Continue reading

A Gift Must Be Received

Jesus gave His life so that ALL may be saved and receive eternal life (John 3:16-17). It is a free gift. However, we know that if a loved one gives us a gift, but we leave it on their table and go home, it is useless to us.

If it is not received by us, taken into our hands from theirs, it is serving no actual purpose for us. It is still there, yes, a beautiful package, but waiting yet still for us to take it, open it, and make use of it. If, for example, it were a check for $1,000, you would not even know the money was there!

Salvation works this way. Some out there say that all people are already saved, but this is a lie! Yes, God desires that all people be saved and Jesus did what was needed so we can be, but you cannot be saved until you RECEIVE the gift of Jesus having saved you from death.

Jesus has paid the penalty for you, but you have to receive it: You have to believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God and gave His life for you, and then surrender your life to living for Him. You have to receive the truth of this for yourself personally (Romans 10:9-13).

If you have not received this outrageously awesome gift of eternal life, please do so right now. It will be for you the start of an exhilarating, joy-filled adventure unlike anything you have ever imagined.

It’s NOT religion or a law as it has often been portrayed, but a betrothal: Falling more and more in love with the One you were created by and created for, for all eternity.

Our Heavenly Father: The Best in Existence

Any true shepherd would go after even one of his sheep that was lost. And wouldn’t any father or mother search for their lost child in the marketplace until they were found?

And so we can know that God is a Dad unlike any other: He’s the best and most perfect parent in existence! God would search harder and longer and farther for even just one of His children than any human being could or would. He would go to more lengths than any. In fact, He did!

God went so far to rescue the very ones He created that He sacrificed His Son to save us. He so loved the world that He sent Jesus to take away our sin and give us eternal life (John 3:16-17). He so loved! He made you to love you. But He doesn’t force you to love Him back. He loves you even though there was nothing you could do to save yourself or be able to love Him back, so He did it for you: He sacrificed His Son out of His love for you.

“All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, he freely accepts us and sets us free from our sins. God sent Christ to be our sacrifice. Christ offered his life’s blood, so that by faith in him we could come to God…” (Romans 3:23-25)

He loves you so much that He wants you to have eternal life and a relationship with Him. He wants to pour out all His infinite love on you. But because we all fall short of perfection–every single one of us has sinned (committed wrong) against God, others and even ourselves–and we are separated from God by our sin. But  because of Jesus, you will be saved if you:

  1. Ask God to forgive all of your sins and genuinely repent (turn away) from sin and turn to God.
  2. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and:
  3. Believe in your heart that you’ve been set free from sin because Jesus died on the cross to take away our sins, and then He was raised again from death to life by God.

Then you are saved and have become one of God’s children! Share it with someone–you’ve made the best decision of your life! Connect with other believers and a local church to help you grow as a believer and child of God. And remember that God will never forsake or leave His children, not even when we pass away from this life, but we will have eternal life with Him forever and have relationship with Him now! At that time of salvation we are also given God’s Holy Spirit as our Helper, who guides us who believe in living rightly for God according to His Word, His will and His ways as we walk by faith in God. By His Spirit, He also teaches us His truth, helps us to love others as He loves, and pours out His own love into our hearts.

We have an awesome and compassionate heavenly Dad who loves us! Our God who longs for those who don’t know Him to turn from evil and be brought into a relationship with Him so that He can love them and love them and love them! And so He can give them TRUE LIFE – the truest of life that comes only from Him!

With love God’s arms are outstretched to you. A smile on His face and compassion flowing from His heart, He awaits the joyful moment in which you will be in His embrace!

Come to Him, all you who long for love that will never leave you lonely. Come to Him, all you who long to truly belong. Come to Him, all you who are weary, longing to be made whole.

God loves you with an everlasting love. You are His, and He paid the highest price of love for you. He knows your struggles, troubles and fears, and He longs to take your burdens upon Himself. God is the one who will truly satisfy your emptiness. He longs to give you His unfailing love, true peace and unending joy.

Newly Found in Christ

You can read a longer (yet less poetic!), more detailed version of my salvation testimony here.

A lot has changed over the last several months and it has stirred me to share, so here I am, beginning a blog. Looking back, I realize that this has been happening for a few years without my knowing exactly what it was–that is, Who it was!

Set free and made new

I’ve grown, learned, starting thinking about things differently, and been reborn. I’ve made discoveries about my life concerning myself and who I am. Some things weren’t actual “discoveries” in regard to this word’s meaning, but things religion and the world had caused me to believe about myself, people, morals, Heaven, etc. have been made right through Jesus Christ.

I know the truth and the truth has set me free. Jesus is Truth and He is the Way! God has finally been allowed to truly enter my life, and He has shown me who I truly am in Him.

Things I’ve learned

Never let the world make you into who you think you are. The world didn’t create you, God did! I often start to regret all the years I spent trying to figure out who I was–in music, in art, in what I do or don’t, in this world and its ways, but I remind myself that God was there even when I didn’t truly acknowledge His presence. He was always there, giving me the ability to know that when I finally found Him, I would discover that nothing else equals truth and love except Jesus and God’s Word.

My way of thinking is changing. It’s refreshing, it’s reassuring, it’s bringing more lasting peace, genuine friendship and real happiness into my life. I now know that only God can provide this; nothing of this world can. Even my values and goals have changed.

I have something to look forward to now and forever, no matter what happens in my life in the here and now. Most of all, I am saved! I now have a relationship with my awesome Creator, Father, Healer, Protector, Stronghold, my Everything, because Jesus Christ paid the price and made the way for me. He showed me the truth and I have received it and given my life to Him.

Growing in God

I’ve been growing in my relationship with God more and more as each day goes by! I used to think I was going to spend eternity in Heaven simply because I believed in God, but as I recently discovered, believing in God and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ are not the same.

I did not know Jesus in a personal relationship or even live in a way that showed I loved Him. In fact, I didn’t love Him at all before because I didn’t know Him at all.

There is a huge difference between believing in Christ as the only way of salvation and surrendering your life to live for Him, versus just believing in God without relationship with Jesus.

Other things have been changing in my life too, but truly having Jesus in my life is why and how all of these things are changing more than anything else ever would or ever could. I’ve become a new person, my true self as God created me to be, through Him and my relationship with Him.

The last few months already I am happier, less stressed, less anxious, less afraid and less worried about how much money I make, where I live or what I can afford to buy. I don’t care what my status is in this world in relation to such things. I can live my life now with fewer outbursts of stress, anxiety, hurt and anger. I’m learning to change my thinking and my attitude toward life and other people in the most positive ways.

I’ve made mistakes, and I still make them. This is how it will always be as an imperfect human being, but I know even more now that it’s worth living a life closer to God (worth more than anything else!), living in a more Christ-like way and in service to Him & the people of this world, giving Him my all because of what He gave in sacrifice for my life. I’ll never be perfect or avoid making mistakes, but I surely want to try! I now have a True Inspiration to do so–Jesus Christ, even more now than ever.

I can’t get enough! Singing, playing, worshiping, praying, serving, reading His Word, thanking Him and feeling His presence. It’s all so amazing. I want to be glorifying Him, worshiping, serving and thanking Him every moment of my life. I’m glad to be truly living in the arms of God, and consciously so, each and every day of my life!

EDIT: By the way, I had my water baptism on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, and was baptized in the Holy Spirit on June 15, 2007. Thank You, Father, for this amazing journey You have me on!
